Chief Jennifer Smith Named Second Vice President of Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs

Chief Jennifer Smith, of New Hanover County Fire Rescue, has been elected Second Vice President of the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs (SEAFC).
In her new role, Chief Smith will help shape SEAFC’s strategic initiatives across a multi-state region, focusing on officer development, interagency coordination, and legislative advocacy.
“Being chosen to serve as Second Vice President is a tremendous honor,” said Chief Smith. “I look forward to sharing ideas, building on innovative approaches, and learning from the great work of departments across the Southeast to strengthen the fire service.”
With over 26 years of progressive leadership in fire and emergency services, Chief Smith holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program. She holds dual designations as a Chief Fire Officer and Chief Training Officer. Chief Smith is currently participating in Cohort 13 of the International Association of Fire Chiefs’ Fire Service Executive Development Institute.

An instructor for the Fire Protection Technology and Emergency Management curriculum at Cape Fear Community College, she also serves on the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Certification Board. She also serves as the president of the NC Association of Fire Chiefs and is a past president of the Eastern Carolina Firefighters Association.
