Chief Scott Burnette

Retired Chief Asheville FD / Mills River FD

Scott Burnette started in the fire service as a volunteer firefighter with the Mills River Fire Department in 1988. He also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Fairgrounds Fire Department while he was a student at NC State.

 

He became a career firefighter with the City of Asheville Fire Department in 1995. He has an Associate’s Degree in Fire Protection Technology from Gaston College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Safety Engineering Technology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Master’s Degree in Executive Fire Service Leadership from Grand Canyon University.

 

He worked his way through the ranks in Asheville and was promoted to Fire Chief in 2009 and retired in 2023.
