Beth Troutman is a co-anchor of WCNC's evening newscasts, alongside Fred Shropshire.
Troutman comes to WCNC from the nationally syndicated show "RightThisMinute", a viral video program airing in more than 190 television markets across the country. Troutman has appeared on numerous news and entertainment programs, making regular appearances on The Today Show on NBC. She is considered an industry expert in online and social media content.
Troutman previously hosted the national morning show "The Balancing Act" on Lifetime Television. She began her on-camera career in 2005 as the host of WCCB-TV's morning program "Fox News Rising" in Charlotte.
Troutman graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with degrees in Political Science and Women's Studies. At age 22 she headed to Hollywood, landing a position on the production team of "The West Wing", where she worked alongside political heavyweights such as Dee Dee Myers, Gene Sperling, Lawrence O'Donnell and Peggy Noonan.
In 2004, Troutman returned to North Carolina where she ran a close race for U.S. Congress.
Troutman grew up in Concord, NC. She attended Concord High School, where she was star track athlete. Her family still resides in the Charlotte area, owning the popular restaurant Troutman's Barbecue.
