Urgent Help Needed for NC Firefighter
Boiling Spring Lakes Fire Rescue

On Thursday April 21st the family of one of our volunteer firefighters, John F. (Jeff) Snider, Jr., was involved in a very bad auto accident. Involved in the accident were his wife and four daughters, all of whom were hurt and transported to two separate hospitals. Jeff’s wife had to be extricated and flown
by Air-Link to the Trauma Center at New Hanover Regional Center with severe injuries and his youngest daughter was transferred by ground ambulance to the Pediatric Hospital in Chapel Hill with a head injury.
At this time, Jeff’s daughters have all been released but his wife remains in serious condition at the trauma hospital. She has already undergone three surgeries with several more needed as her condition improves.
Jeff is on a limited income and lives paycheck to paycheck, just like many of us do in these hard economic times. Since the accident, Jeff has not been able to work and has been diligently traveling from his home to the hospital every day to visit with his wife and back to his home to take care of his daughters. At this time, Jeff does not qualify for the fireman’s relief fund as he only has 4 years of service with the Fire department. Jeff needs money for gas as well as food for his family in these trying times until he is able to return to work.
We are asking for any donations that anyone is willing and able to give to go directly to a fund that has been set up in his name at the North Carolina State Employees Credit Union. Donations can be made at any branch throughout the state by telling the clerk that it is a donation to be placed in the share account of John F. Snider, Jr. If the clerk is unable to locate the account or if they have any questions they can contact the Branch Manager for the Southport Branch, Suzanne Champion at (910) 454-0515.
